The author spent forty years working in information technology before turning his attention to writing fiction. A graduate of  The Ohio State University, he lives in Southern California with his husband. Drawing on decades of love, recovery, reinvention, friendship, travel, and shared history, The Sky We Shared explores what happens after romance becomes a life—and why two imperfect people may continue choosing each other long after the easy part is over.

The Sky We Shared is a work of autofiction, inspired by lived experience, lasting love, and real emotional history. James Hamilton, the narrator, and Gabriel Shui are fictionalized characters. What remains central is the emotional truth of a long relationship: its humor, damage, endurance, joy, and devotion.
